Dairy farming gave an alternative source of income in Meghalaya's Garo Hills

Ampati (Meghalaya), Aug 03 (ANI): In Meghalaya, dairy farming has evolved in last few decades and with the help of technological interventions, it has become even more attractive for the younger generation to take the dairy farming as one of the most attractive and sustainable livelihood model. In order to ensure new avenues for livelihood opportunities and to encourage educated youths to take advantage of the available natural resources, as part of state livestock mission, recently the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma handed over the Holstein Friesian breed of cattle to six self help groups (SHGs) of South West Garo hills at Ampati.
