Plum cultivation boosts in Kashmir, growers satisfied

Budgam (J&K), July 27 (ANI): Kashmir is famous for dry fruits and fruits including apples, pears, cherries, grapes, pomegranates, mulberry, peaches, apricots, walnuts, almonds and mouth watering plums. The production of delicious plums has increased manyfolds this year as compared to past years. Harvesting is on peak in the Bagati-Kanipora area of Budgam district, which is famous for plums. Growers and dealers are expecting high retu s and the harvesting is at full pace. The rates are also high and in Kashmir it is more than Rs. 300. The increased production has also created a lot employment opportunities for poor. A plum dealer, Abdul Hameed, said thousands of people from various villages are recruited for harvesting plums.
