World Environment Day: KTR launches 70 mini sewer jetting machines to bring down manual scavenging

 Hyderabad (Telangana), June 05 (ANI): On the occasion of World Environment Day on Monday, Telangana Minister of Urban Development, Industry and Information Technology (IT) KT Rama Rao launched 70 mini sewer jetting machines in the capital city Hyderabad. The vehicles will enable fight the menace of manual scavenging. Each of these vehicle costs Rs. 26 Lakh. Upon receiving a loan of Rs. 20 Lakh from the State Bank of India (SBI), any entrepreneur can take the machine's possession by paying just Rs. 6 Lakh. For the first time in India and under the banner of Swachh Bharat Mission, bacteria-free uniforms will also be provided to the people involved in sewage cleaning activities. The idea of these machines has been brought in and developed by Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), an organisation that works for welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
