Shisht Bharat campaign launched

New Delhi [India], Feb 26 (ANI): Shisht Bharat Campaign - A Dr. Angeli Qwatra Safety Trainings Initiative – under the aegis of a humanitarian, not-for-profit organization announced the launch of its civic sense inculcation campaign today. The campaign saw the presence of eminent dignitaries such as Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern region, Minister of State for Prime minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space.
The speakers on the panel were Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Chancellor, AAFT Media University, Dr. Nand Kishore Garg, Chancellor - Maharaj Agrasen University, Dr. Jyoti Gupta, Principal, Delhi Public School and Sh Naresh Kumar, IAS, Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council.
The main highlight of the event was the panel discussion, which focused on the topic, “Making India Shisht: Inclusion of moral science as a subject in the school/college curriculum is an important step.”
The panellists shared their perspective and discussions highlighting the importance of including moral Science as a subject in educational curriculum for the growth of the nation from ground-up.
While congratulating Dr. Angeli Qwatra for her effort, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Honourable Minister, PMO, and MOS, Department of Personnel, said, “As adults, it is our primary responsibility to be Shisht (civil) before we can teach these values to our children. We have to be role models before we can implement shishtachar among these young minds. With the proliferation of information and knowledge through the media and the internet, it is now much easier to propagate and create awareness about these foundational values that have made our nation into a force to reckon with.”
Sharing her views at the launch of the campaign, Dr. Angeli Qwatra, Chief Campaigner and Director General, Philanthrope, said, “Today is a special day. Philanthrope is launching its second public campaign, after the Safety preparedness training, in India called - Shisht Bharat. The primary objective is to re-introduce moral science as a subject in the school and college curriculum in the form of not just a bookish course, but a hands-on practical learning methodology course by increasing students’ access to people with diverse life experiences and points of view whereby kids learn about their duties and responsibilities towards others in family and society especially towards the elders, needy and poor workers, reducing wastage, conserving water and energy, planting and nurturing trees, and so on.
Learning such things by doing, they grow up feeling like agents of change. There is a nice multiplier effect with kids-they go home and teach their elders. And since majority of our country is young (under 25 years), this is the perfect demographic to focus on for the challenging task of national reconstruction and social changes that lie ahead. While the larger aim remains to inculcate a sense of civic responsibility and to encourage moral values among our citizens including children. We expect this year-long Campaign to provide a platform to unify our voices and action to steer our nation towards a glorious dawn.”
The present education system needs transformation and realignment. With the degeneration of ethical values and the tragic deterioration of standards of our social, economic and political lives, a new model of inculcation of values at an early stage for our children, will provide a basis for a firm foundation.
Under Dr. Qwatra’s leadership, the campaign will employ a three-pronged strategy to inculcate civic sense amongst the citizens. It will aim to educate school and college children through innovative approaches like multimedia use and outdoor activities: slogans, radio and TV jingles, short films, filmmaking competion (in collaboration with media organisations like Marwah Studios); engage with market clusters, RWAs and citizens through various resident, encouragement programs, creating a pool of volunteers of impressive speakers and social media groups to enthuse colony residents; and improve enforcement by collaborating with the Delhi Traffic Police and undertaking awareness activities at identified traffic signals, and advocacy with governments to increase compliance of civic rules through monitoring and fines.
Students and staff of public schools in Delhi NCR will be infused with the spirit to raise civic sense through two hundred F1 (Formula One) clubs of Times of Sports company. A walkathon of all ages from India Gate in April, 2019 will broadcast the need of the initiative widely. Public ads have been put up in free space provided by Pioneer multimedia ltd., as a daily reminder of the need to strengthen the moral fibre of our nation. Nukkad nataks in slums and urban villages motivate all rungs of society. After all, cultivating civic sense is, quintessentially, a huge consciousness raising exercise.
