Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Feb 14 (ANI): Benchmark indices continued their downtrend on Thursday with energy stocks taking a beating after crude oil prices started rising in global markets.
At closing bell, the BSE Sensex was down 158 points at 35,876 while the Nifty 50 was down 48 points at 10,746.
Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, GAIL, Hindalco and Bharti Airtel were among major losers.
The gainers included Yes Bank, Indiabulls Housing, Zee Entertainment, JSW Steel and Tata Motors.
Yes Bank closed over 20 per cent at Rs 205.55 after the Reserve Bank of India cleared it of any divergences in bad loan reporting practices.
Asian stock markets remained cautious as investors were unsure about any progress in the latest US-China tariff talks amid reports that the White House could extend the deadline for a deal. (ANI)
