Stocks stage late recovery but Sensex closes 64 points lower

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Jan 29 (ANI): Indian scrips opened on a weak note but staged recovery during the late trading session on Tuesday.
The S-P BSE Sensex closed 64.20 points down at 35,592 while the Nifty 50 slipped 9.35 points and settled at 10,652.
Among the losers in a volatile session were GAIL, Eicher Motors, Reliance, and Powergrid. However, Bajaj Finance, Zee Entertainment, Adani Ports and Sun Pharma gained some ground.
Market experts said investor sentiment is weak due to pessimism over some heavyweight Q3 corporate results and impending General Elections due in April-May.
Across Asia Pacific, most indices took a hit after the US Justice Department uncovered indictments against Huawei, China’s top telecom equipment maker, accusing it of bank and wire fraud to evade Iran sanctions and conspiring to steal trade secrets from T-Mobile US Inc.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut its forecast for global growth this year citing the US-China trade war. (ANI)
