Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha join 'Bhuj: The Pride of India'

New Delhi [India] Mar 20 (ANI): The makers of ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’ unveiled the film’s star-studded ensemble cast. A day after Ajay Devgn announced his association with the upcoming project, actors including Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra joined the film’s cast.
The film will also star Rana Daggubati and Ammy Virk. Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the news.
He wrote, “#Update: Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati, Parineeti Chopra and Ammy Virk join Ajay Devgn starrer #BhujThePrideOfIndia... Ajay essays the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, in charge of Bhuj airport during the 1971 Indo-Pak war... Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya.”

Parineeti also took to her Twitter handle to make the announcement. “The most special true story ever,” she wrote in her tweet. She has previously worked with Ajay in ‘Golmaal Again’.
Sonakshi Sinha, on the other hand, gave her fans an insight into her character in the upcoming film and stated that she will be seen playing the role of a real life hero, Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, which will also be the first time that she will be seen essaying the role of a real life character on screen.
"BHUJ: The Pride Of India. Proud to announce this as my next film, with these amazing people. For the first time i get to portray a real life hero - Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, in a real life incident - the 1971 indo-pak war! #bhujtheprideofindia,” she captioned the post.

Ajay will be seen essaying the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik in the film while Parineeti will play ‘femme fatale’ Heena Rehman. Sonakshi will portray social worker Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, Sanjay will play civilian Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari, Rana will be seen playing a lieutenant colonel from the Madras regiment and Ammy will essay the role of a fighter pilot.
The film was announced on Tuesday by Ajay. He took to his Twitter handle to share the news.
The film will be helmed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and will be based on real life events during Indo-Pak war of 1971. Bhushan Kumar, who is bankrolling the upcoming film, also took to his Twitter handle to welcome Ajay aboard.
Reportedly, Karnik was in-charge of the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war, which remained operational despite of facing heavy bombing from Pakistan. He was accompanied by 50 air force and 60 defence security personnel at the airbase.
Karnik and his team reconstructed the destroyed Indian Air Force airstrip at Bhuj, Gujarat with the help of local women. The team convinced around 300 women from a nearby village to help them rebuild the airstrip so that a flight carrying Indian Army officers could land safely. (ANI)
