UK Journalist Steve Hewlett dies at 58

London [UK], Feb. 21 (ANI): Broadcaster and journalist Steve Hewlett, who shared the story of his cancer battle on BBC Radio 4, breathed his last at the age of 58. According to a report in the Mirror, he documented the impact of the disease in a series of candid interviews and newspaper articles. On the same note, he was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus in March last year. In the interviews, the late host of 'The Media Show' spoke about issues including drug trials and reaction to treatment. In a statement released by Hewlett's family, "Over the last year, we have been overwhelmed by the support of friends, colleagues and Radio 4 listeners. The messages helped Steve enormously, especially over the last few months." Hewlett, who had a successful career, presented 'The Media Show' on Radio 4 since 2008 and was a media journalist and commentator, writing for Media Guardian for many years, reports the Guardian. He was also editor of Panorama in the mid-1990s, when the program aired Martin Bashir's interview with Princess Diana, which was watched by 23 million people. The report further said that a tribute to Hewlett's work on 'The Media Show' will be broadcasted on Wednesday. (ANI)
