Washington D.C. [U.S.A], December 7 (ANI): Hollywood actress Daisy Ridley, who will be next seen in the movie 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi', has admitted that social media is "highly unhealthy for people's mental health".
The British actress, who quit photo-sharing app Instagram earlier this year, said that she removed herself from several platforms after having found fame.
In an interview given to a leading UK publication, Ridley described social media as damaging to mental health, especially for teenagers.
She said, "It's such a weird thing for young people to look at distorted images of things they should be. It's such a weird thing for young people to look at distorted images of things they should be."
"I'm definitely recognised more, but I find the whole taking pictures thing weird. I'd prefer to have a conversation than someone asking for a picture, but I guess people feel the need to prove they've had the interaction through social media," noted the 'Murder on the Orient Express' star.
She deleted her social media account in September, following the likes of celebrities like Adele, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, who have all deleted their accounts in the past after being overwhelmed by the online world.
It should be noted that her upcoming movie in the epic 'Star Wars' franchise, The Last Jedi' is slated to release on December 15. (ANI)
