Washington D.C. [USA], Feb 14 (ANI):  Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne revealed that she is still very close to her ex-husband Chad Kroeger.
Lavigne, who collaborated with Kroeger for her upcoming album ‘Head Above Water,’ while reflecting on the experience on working with her ex-husband said, “I’m really grateful to have had someone like him in my life who cared while I was getting back up on my feet.”
The Nickelback frontman helped Lavigne in co-writing the empowerment anthem ‘Warrior’, which will feature in the album.
While the two called it quits in 2015, they continue to share a cordial relationship and care for each other.
Calling Kroeger her corner Lavigne said, “He’s just always been a cheerleader of mine and always been such a huge fan. He’s in my corner, he’s on my side, and he’s always been really great.”
“He took me under his wing, he got me in the studio, he recorded me, he was very encouraging. He helped me with some of the songs that I wrote, because he’s such a good songwriter — I’d be stuck on a lyric or stuck on a part, and he’d help me finish a song if I couldn’t and he would record it,” People quoted Lavigne as saying.
Head Above Water’ is inspired by her debilitating battle with Lyme disease. The singer released the first look of her album in September last year.
Talking about her album, Lavigne said, "This album tells my story". This will be her first single in three years and is dedicated to her struggles with Lyme disease over the last couple of years.
In a blog posted on her official website, the singer explained what inspired her to come up with the album. "This is me and my fight. One night, I thought I was dying, and I had accepted that I was going to die. My mom laid with me in bed and held me. I felt like I was drowning. Under my breath, I prayed 'God, please help to keep my head above the water. In that moment, the songwriting of this album began. It was like I tapped into something. It was a very spiritual experience. Lyrics flooded through me from that point on," the blog read. (ANI)
