Following the success of his 2016 album "Awaken, My Love!", Glover called this deal a "necessary change of pace".
Partnering with the Sony Music subsidiary, Glover and his creative agency, Wolf + Rothstein, will be recording a new label. They will release a new Gambino music later with year in collaboration.
Peter Edge, RCA Chairman and CEO, said in a statement, "Donald is undoubtedly one of the most talented, multi-faceted, young entertainers of this era". He showed his excitement over joining hands with Wolf + Rothstein to "usher in the next phase of Gambino's musical career".
Earlier associated with the Glassnote Records since 2011, Glover released three full-length albums and two mix-tapes. Though a successful stint, their association has not always been amicable.
Glover slammed the Glassnote Records in 2014 over "mishandling of a video".
Pertaining to "Sweatpants" single from his second album "Because The Internet", Glover accused the label for lying to him. He took to Twitter to show his distaste.
In a series of Tweets, he wrote, "We were told a lot of things were gonna happen and they were all lies. So I'm done. Someone buy me out of this contract".
The creative agency, Wolf + Rothstein, is a brainchild of Glover, Wolf Taylor, and Fam Rothstein. Operating out of Los Angeles, it has previously released Kari Faux's "Lost en Los Angeles" and bLAck pARty's "Mango" in 2016.
Gambino has been nominated for five Grammy Awards at this weekend's event, including one for album of the year for his "Awaken, My Love!" and another for record of the year for the breakout single "Redbone". He will also be performing at the ceremony which will be held on January 29. (ANI)
