Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 7 (ANI): The Kings, Mumbai's popular hip-hop dance group made India proud by bagging the first position in the third season of American reality TV show 'World of Dance'.
The NBC show is judged by singer-actor Jennifer Lopez, rapper Ne-Yo, and dancer Derek Hough.
While the dance group has managed to prove its metal internationally, it wasn't an overnight achievement. The success came after years of hard work.
From the slums of Mumbai's Nalasopara to the stage of 'World of Dance', it has been a tedious 10-year-long Journey for The Kings.
"When we were standing there on the stage, we were reminded of all the hardships that we faced during those 10 years of struggle. It was like a flashback," said Suresh, lead dancer of The Kings.
While getting selected for the reality show was an achievement in itself, their goal was to win. Even during their 'World of Dance' journey in a foreign land, the hip-hop dance group faced a lot of hardships.
"Our true struggle was the injuries. Our dancers started getting injured from the second episode itself. There came a point where our dancers would cripple their way to the stage, give the performance, get a standing ovation and then cripple their way back to the backstage. Being in the US, we could not even replace one of our members because half of our team was in India and the core group was in the US," Suresh added.
As soon as the news of the group's victory surfaced on the internet, several Bollywood stars, including Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, Farah Khan, and Remo Dsouza, wished The Kings with a social media post.
"We have noticed that a lot of Bollywood celebrities have been posting and tweeting about us and congratulating us. We are getting about 10 mentions every second on social media. We are really happy," Suresh asserted.
This is not the first time 'The Kings' tasted success, the group has proved their worth in multiple Indian reality shows including 'India's Got Talent' and 'Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega'. (ANI)
