Churches across India were decked up with flowers as people thronged churches for the ceremonial midnight mass to offer prayers in devotional fervour.
In Mumbai, Easter celebrations took place at midnight in St Michael’s Church, where devotees lit candles and offered prayers to the lord during the mass.

In Goa, midnight mass was held at the 'Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church’ in Panaji.

Celebrations were grand in Puducherry where people sang hymns and prayers in praise of the Lord. The 'Immaculate Construction' church was beautifully decorated with colourful fairy lights. A depiction of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection were also witnessed here.

In Tamil Nadu, the celebrations took place at midnight on Easter Sunday at the 'Santhome Church' in Chennai. The church was decorated with lights and flowers, adding more charm to the celebrations.

Easter Sunday prayers were also held this morning at 'Lourdes Shrine Church' in Madurai. Devotees along with the priests offered prayers to the Lord.

In Thiruvananthapuram, devotees gathered at St. Mary's Cathedral for midnight mass and offered prayers. They also lit candles and sought blessings from the priest after the service.

Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his crucifixion on Good Friday. It also marks the culmination of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and penance.
On this day of fun and frolic, families get together and indulge in a royal feast. In many parts of the world, children spend time hunting for the ceremonious Easter eggs and chocolates. (ANI)
