NSUI students in Delhi host Northeast cultural night

New Delhi [India] Sep 14 (ANI): India's northeast region is not only known for its diverse culture but also for rich music and folklore. When it comes to culture or music, the Northeast region stands out in sheer musical diversity, offering a completely different world of music and cultural folk dance.
The National Student Union of India (NSUI), with an aim to unite the students of Northeast residing in the capital, recently organised a daylong event called 'Northeast Cultural Night' at Mavalankar Auditorium, Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.
"It makes us very happy to see all the Northeast students coming together in one place and enjoying the cultural programs and many people from Delhi University are present here today," said NSUI National Secretary, Mohd. Kabir Ahamad.
The event was graced by former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Chandra Singh Rawat, who appealed to the audience to understand the richness of the culture of North East.
Cultural dances from Assam, Kom tribe and Manipur along with songs were also performed. A young performer, Kamlensang also mesmerised the audience with Daughtry's song.
Later, Alobo Naga and the band, an award-winning musician from Nagaland entertained the audience with their electrifying performance.
"Nagas have so many tribes which make it difficult to get together and therefore, music is that one thing that unites everyone," said Alobo.
A young dance group, Generation Squad (Delhi Squadron) also performed at the event. The students from Northeast felt enthusiastic by performing their cultural dances.
"It is a very good program as many people come here to meet their loved ones. I love Alobo Naga and his songs and here you meet many students and organisations, which is why it is a very nice event", said a student.
Dahrii Vemai, Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU )convener, Northeast said that the purpose of the event was to gather the North-East students together and to have interactions as it is one platform to unite the students.
"I am here to perform a cultural show. A gathering like this, wearing our cultural dress gives me a lot of confidence," added a participant, K Vashum.
Apart from its glorious reputation in music, youths of Northeast are inclined towards music that unites and brings the people of together no matter where they are. (ANI)
