Washington DC, [USA] Oct 23 (ANI): Scientists on Tuesday have discovered the world's oldest intact shipwreck at the bottom of the Black Sea.
New York Post reported that according to scientists, it had been lying at the location undisturbed for the last 2400 years.
British scientists working under the Black Sea Maritime Archaeological Project discovered the 75-foot long merchant vessel 80.4 Kilometres off the Bulgarian Coast. It is believed to have sailed during Ancient Greek and Roman times.
Scientists further believe that the lack of oxygen in the Black Sea helped preserve the ship so well, such that even the Monkfish bones that the sailors ate remained intact.
The team's findings will be presented at the British Museum today. (ANI)
