Washington DC, [USA] Sep 09 (ANI): Tennis ace Serena Williams engaged in a heated argument with court umpire during the US Open Women's Single finals.
Serena, who lost to Japan's Naomi Osaka in the finals of the tournament, unleashed a furious rant at umpire Carlos Ramos after he deducted a point claiming that the tennis star's coach Patrick Mouratoglou made a gesture towards her, which was according to him a coaching violation, reported E! Online.
Hitting back at Ramos, Serena said she doesn't "cheat to win" and claimed that she would rather lose than commit such a thing. She further said that Ramos owed her an apology and accused him of stealing a point from her.
The tennis sensation even highlighted the issue of gender disparity and said to Ramos that such incident has happened to her "too many times" compared to men.
Osaka defeated Serena 6-2, 6-4 to deny the American tennis ace record 24th major Grand Slam at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, thus becoming the first Japanese player to win a singles title of a major tournament. (ANI)
