Cyclone Titli: Patnaik govt to expedite assistance to affected families

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Oct 15 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed officials to provide an assistance of Rs 1000 along with 50 kg rice and 2-litre Kerosene to each ration card holder affected by Cyclone Titli and its aftermath.
The remaining assistance of Rs 2000 will be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries soon.
The Odisha government announced to provide two months advanced ration to the people in the Gajapati district.
The cyclone and subsequent flood affected more than 57 lakh people in 7402 villages in 16 districts of the state.
Three districts of Odisha - Ganjam, Gajapati, and Rayagada - were severely affected by Cyclone Titli, heavy rains, and the subsequent floods earlier this month.
According to Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), more than 3.6 lakh people were evacuated to safer places and sheltered in relief centres.
The office of SRC also informed that standing crops, spread across 2.34 lakh hectare areas, have been damaged. (ANI)
