Earthquake tremor shook Northern India

New Delhi [India], Jan 31 (ANI): The northern part of India on Wednesday felt the tremor of the earthquake, epicentre of which was Afghanistan's Hindu Kush area.

The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded to be 6.1 on Richter scale as per the EMSC (European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre).

VK Gehlot, Director, National Center for Seismology said the deapth of the earthquake was of over 190 km, hence it was felt strongly in India.

"The earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, it had a depth of over 190 km and hence was felt in Delhi and quite strongly in Kashmir also," Gehlot said.

Till now no loss of life and property has been recorded. (ANI)
