Hyderabad: 'Sheikh Marriage' gang busted

Hyderabad (Telengana) [India], September 20 (ANI): The Hyderabad City Police on Wednesday nabbed five Omani and three Qatar Sheikh, chief Qazi of Mumbai, four lodge owners, and five brokers, in connection with Sheikh marriages.

According to the police, the investigation of recent incidents of child marriages led to the arrests.

The incident of child marriage reported on August 17, the Hyderabad police formed into teams to nab the culprits.

The arrested persons of Omen are identified as Al Salhi Talib Humied Ali, Al Ubaidani Juma Shinoon Sulaiman, Al Salehi Nasser Khalifa Hamed, Al Qasimi Hassan Mazaaul Mohammed of Sultanate.

Addressing the press conference, Commissioner of Police K. Mahender Reddy said, "The eight foreign nationals who were in touch with brokers, have been interviewing minor girls to select one of their choices before getting married luring them with promising life."

He added that the brokers collided with other brokers to create fake documents to get visa with deceitful means.

"My daughter got married in the month of May. Gousiya begum made us agree to get our girl married by promising to pay 5 lakh rupees. But we still haven't received any amount and we didn't even see the passport papers and marriage certificates." victim's mother speaking to ANI.

She also added that whenever they asked Gousiya begum about it, she instead replied that her daughter was fine.

"Once my daughter sent a video that she is not fine and hence we immediately approached the police," she said.(ANI)
