Ladakh (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] Jan 26 (ANI): Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel on Saturday held aloft the tricolour to celebrate the country's 70th Republic Day in Ladakh, at a height of 18,000 feet and in freezing temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius.
"ITBP personnel celebrating #RepublicDay2019 at 18,000 feet and minus 30 degree Celsius somewhere in Ladakh," ITBP tweeted.
In Uttarakhand, the ITBP hoisted the tricolour at 9,000 feet above sea level in Chamoli district's Auli.
The ITBP is a specialised mountain force -- most of whose officers and men are trained as mountaineers and skiers. The force guards the border from Ladakh's Karakoram Pass to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh. (ANI)
