Kinnaur avalanche: Bodies of last 2 missing jawans retrieved, rescue operation ends

Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Mar 14 (ANI): The bodies of two more jawans who went missing after a snow avalanche in Namgya Dogri, was retrieved on Thursday.
The rescue operation, which was carried out for last 23 days, concluded today after bodies of the remaining two jawans who were buried under the snow was retrieved. Bodies of four of the six Army personnel had already been recovered.
Seven Army personnel went missing after an Army patrol was hit by a snow avalanche in the Namgya region of Kinnaur district on February 20. All the missing jawans were from Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, an infantry regiment of the Indian Army.
One jawan was rescued soon after the avalanche but he succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.
A rescue operation consisting of Army, ITBP and BRO personnel was launched in coordination with the civil administration.
Local villagers also participated in the rescue operation which was constantly hampered by the bad weather conditions. (ANI)
