New Delhi [India] Nov 27 (ANI): A day after a 39-year-old man was arrested for carrying a live cartridge to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Janata Darbar on Monday, Delhi Police confirmed that the man, identified as Imran, had kept the cartridge with him with an intention to get rid of it.
"When police received information regarding this matter, we immediately rushed to the spot to arrest the accused. During the investigation, we came to know that he (Imran) works as a caretaker at a mosque in Karol Bagh. He traced the cartridge from a donation box two months back. Lawfully, it was his duty to notify the police about it, but he carried it with an intention of disposing it," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Harendra Singh told ANI.
Imran was among the 13 people, including Muslim clerics, who had gone to Kejriwal's Janata Darbar with a request to increase the salary provided by the Waqf Board.
The incident comes nearly a week after Kejriwal was allegedly attacked with chilli powder at the Delhi secretariat. (ANI)
