Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh) [India] May 18 (ANI): On the eve of elections in eight Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh, the electoral officer of the district has provided polling parties with onions to brave the heat.
Polling officials were seen distributing onions in Jhabua district in addition to EVMs and VVPATs ahead of polls.
A handful of polling officials accepted the onions gracefully, while others showed their indifference.
Maintaining that the district administration had no role to play in providing onions, District Collector and Electoral Officer Prabal Sipaha said, "Some of our sector officers distributed onions to polling parties in their own personal capacity as they believed onions help in combating heat if kept in pockets."
Six phases of the general elections have been concluded in the country with the seventh and the last phase due on Sunday. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
