One arrested for abusing Hindu Gods on Facebook

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] Dec 29 (ANI): A person was arrested on Friday for posting abusive pictures and sculptures of Hindu Gods and temples on Facebook in Hyderabad.

A case has been registered under Sections 153 (a), 153 (b), 298, 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2002.

Accused Vinay Kumar had created a Facebook page depicting Hindu Gods and describing them in highly abusive language, on which one user, Gopi Krishna, filed a complaint to take necessary action against him.

A mail was sent to Facebook authorities with a requisition to share the IP details in order to block and delete that page with abusive contents to avoid communal disharmony in society.

During the course of the investigation, IP details were received from Facebook authorities which revealed that it belongs to a Jio network.

Immediately, a mail was sent to that network, which revealed the IP addresses and based on the information shared, a team was deputed to apprehend the accused.

The Cyber Cell team apprehended the accused at Nampally Railway Station and later on interrogating about the act, Kumar confessed to the crime.

He has been sent to the judicial custody. (ANI)
