New Delhi [India], Mar 25 (ANI): Supreme Court on Monday banned political slogans, pictures of politicians and advertisements in public places in Tamil Nadu.
While hearing a plea filed by an NGO, the top court ordered banning of political messages and campaigns on the place which may cause damage to the environment.
In its petition, the NGO had stated that the political campaigns in public places were resulting in defacement of bridges, highways, hill locks among others.
Earlier on March 8, the Supreme Court had questioned the Tamil Nadu government on the alleged defacement of natural resources.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had directed the state government's counsel to seek ways to stop the defacement. (ANI)
