Sopore encounter: Slain terrorists identified as LeT affiliates

Sopore (Jammu and Kashmir) Dec 13 (ANI):  Two terrorists, who were killed on Wednesday during an encounter with security forces in Baratkalan Gund Mohalla, Sopore, have been identified as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) affiliates.
The two have been identified as Ovis Butt and Tahir Ahmad.
The operation, which continued for the entire night, concluded on Thursday morning. 
"A search operation was launched based on intelligence inputs. Security forces were fired at during the operation, despite that we gave opportunity to surrender, when they refused, we retaliated and two terrorists were neutralized," confirmed North Kashmir's Deputy Inspector General of Police Atul Kumar Goel.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
The troops of 179 Battalion of CRPF, Special Operation Group (SOG), 22 RR, CRPF Range Quick Action Team, Baramulla, carried out the encounter.
Police have also registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. (ANI)
