Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb 22 (ANI): A delegation of Tamil Nadu political party leaders and representatives of farmers associations will soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urge him to set up the Cauvery management board (CMB).

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had put forth two demands before the government following the demonstrations by the association of Cauvery Delta Farmers earlier in the day.

"Our demands that farmer delegations should be made to meet Prime Minister and asking Prime Minister to constitute Cauvery water management board were accepted by the Tamil Nadu government," party working president MK Stalin told reporters here.

The farmers' delegation has been demanding a meeting with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami regarding the distribution of Cauvery river water.

The farmers claimed that their plight in the state was very unfortunate.

The Supreme Court's February 16 verdict on the Cauvery River water dispute decreased Tamil Nadu's share in the water body, much to the dismay of the people of the state. (ANI)
