Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) on Saturday demanded the deployment of adequate security forces for guarding strong rooms across the state, where the last phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held on April 29.
BJP in letters to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar has also sought “the immediate ouster of political functionaries, party workers and non-voters of BJD from Kendrapara during 48 hours of the silence period” ahead of the polling.
“This is to bring to your kind attention that certain suspicious people were allowed access to the guarded areas of the strong room situated in the Mining School Area in Keonjhar district…” reads the letter.
“…Deployment of adequate central forces, CCTV surveillance and diligent monitoring of the strong rooms must also be ensured for all strong rooms in Odisha…” the letter further reads.
BJP has alleged that “numerous state ministers, MLAs, political functionaries and workers of BJD are camping and campaigning in Kendrapara parliamentary constituency. They have been assigned the task of monitoring and supervising polling across various areas in Kendrapara assembly constituency.”
Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat has become a status symbol for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, as his bête noire Baijayant Panda is seeking re-election from this seat but on the BJP ticket. BJD has fielded Odia cine star Anubhav Mohanty to take on Panda.
