New Delhi [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Delhi BJP leader and party’s national secretary RP Singh on Saturday urged the Election Commission of India (EC) to "censure" Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by "misleading" the voters.
In his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, Singh alleged that Kejriwal in a press conference on April 25 made “false statements” with the “sole intention of creating panic and mutual hatred between communities” while referring to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the BJP manifesto.
Arvind Kejriwal is trying to mislead the people of India by saying that BJP considers Muslims, Christians, Jains, Parsis and other minorities as infiltrators. That it should be taken note of that the manifesto of the BJP only talks about illegal infiltrators and no one else,” he said in the letter.
Terming it as a violation of Model Code of Conduct, Singh said, “Election Commission should censure Arvind Kejriwal from holding any public meetings, public processions, public rallies, road shows and interviews, public utterances in media (electronic, print, social media) etc. in connection with the ongoing elections.”
All seven seats of Delhi will go to polls in the fifth phase of elections on May 12. The results will be announced on May 23. (ANI)
