Goa by-elections: Congress declares candidates for August elections

New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): Congress on Wednesday declared its candidates for two assembly seats in the upcoming Panaji and Valpoi Assembly by-elections in Goa. Secretary of All India Congress Committee Girish Chodankar will be contesting for Panaji seat while Congress leader Roy Ravi Naik will be contesting from Valpoi assembly constituency. The assembly bypoll elections will be taking place on August 23 in Goa. Former Congress leader health minister Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane is Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) pick for the Valpoi bypoll. The Valpoi bypoll was mandated after Vishwajit Rane, resigned as the Congress MLA and joined the BJP after the party-led government won the floor test in March this year.(ANI)
