Govt. committed to combat terrorism: President

New Delhi [India], Jan. 31 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday, while addressing the parliament ahead of the budget session, asserted that the government is committed to combat terrorism and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book. Quoting India's example of a country facing terrorism, President Mukherjee said perpetrators will be brought to books. "My government is committed to combating terrorism and to ensure that the perpetrators of such acts are brought to justice," said President Mukherjee. "India has been facing grave challenge of terrorism, threat to global community. Jammu and Kashmir affected by terrorism, sponsored and supported from across the border," he added. Applauding the surgical strikes on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September last year, the President said India gave a "befitting reply" to the elements of terror. President Mukherjee also enumerated various policies that the present government introduced for the welfare of the poor, farmer, youth and women. The President also put light on various measures taken to encourage tourism in north-eastern states of India. The Budget Session this time, will witness the merger of the Railway Budget and General Budget for the first time, with government also discussing the benefits economy will get with it. (ANI)
