J-K: Nabbed LeT terrorist was trained in Pakistan, say police officials

Sopore (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Nov. 4 (ANI): The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist who was arrested yesterday in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore area was persuaded to surrender, said Deputy Inspector General of Police Uttam Chand, North Kashmir on Friday. Chand said that huge amounts of arms and ammunitions were recovered from the terrorists identified as Omar Khaliq. "An effort was made to seek the surrender of terrorist, the owner of the house was also involved and finally the terrorist was persuaded to surrender his name is Kahiq alias Sameen. He surrendered and also with that we seized arms and ammunitions from him," Chand told media here. Chand said that Khaliq had gone to Pakistan and was trained there. Chand informed that the police had received information about the presence of a LeT terrorist, yesterday at 17:08 hrs. The terrorist was nabbed after a joint operation launched by army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the state police. "A case has been registered and an investigation has been taken up to see if there is involvement of any other persons," Chand said. (ANI)
