Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 13 (ANI): In the aftermath of a suspected cow slaughterer beaten up by locals in the presence of the police, the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday said within two months of the new government being formed, the law and order situation has been demolished in the state. Speaking to ANI here, Samajwadi Party leader Juhi Singh, while condemning the incident asserted that primarily, the police, who were witness to this need, should be punished. "All of a sudden, these so-called 'gaurakshaks' enter people's houses and beat them up. Police are standing there crippled instead of taking an action. The government's representatives need to very seriously consider reviewing the law and order situation in the state," she said. Subtly hinting at the inefficiency of the present Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Juhi further said during the Samajwadi Party Government, all constitutional arrangements were in place to make sure that people do not take law and order into their own hands. "Listen to the Prime Minister and your Chief Minister," Juhi urged the ministers, party workers and representatives. A furore was witnessed in a locality in Aligarh, when the residents came to know about the alleged slaughter of a buffalo in a house there. The locals reached the spot and brutally thrashed the man suspected to have been involved. Meanwhile, five people have been arrested in connection with the alleged slaughter. As per locals, the children saw blood flowing into the drain from the house, after which they informed the people. The locals then gathered around creating a ruckus and informed the police. "They had called a butcher for slaughtering buffalo," alleged an agitated local. In the video, the man can be seen assaulted by the police and the locals and is then forcefully escorted out of the house. "We got information that a buffalo is being slaughtered at Kali Baghel's house. The Police reached the spot and arrested the people there. Total five people have been arrested," said the police. The Police has assured that an investigation is underway and appropriate action would be taken. (ANI)
