Manglagiri (Andhra Pradesh), [India] Mar 25 (ANI): Independent transgender candidate from Manglagiri constituency Tamanna Simhadri on Monday took on IT Minister Nara Lokesh for filing his nomination from Chittoor constituency only to "protect" the land he has grabbed.
"Why is Nara Lokesh, who hails from Chittoor district, contesting from here? The only answer is that he wants to protect the land he has grabbed over the years. I filed nomination to eradicate the selfish politics. I will be available 24x7 for the people," Tamanna Simhadri told ANI.
Asserting that the public support is with her, Simhadri said: "People with political heredity are here but public support is with me. The big parties are spending crores. I want to rewrite the history and for the same, I have entered the politics."
"When Jana Sena denied me a ticket, a few local parties approached me, but I told them that I would contest as an independent candidate only," Simhadri further said.
Speaking on the issue of gender discrimination, she said, "Atrocities against women are my main agenda. MLAs and MPs don't come out after winning the election. But I am available every time."
The election to 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly is scheduled to be held on April 11 simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
