New Delhi [India], Mar 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Union of India and the Election Commission and sought their replies in connection with a plea seeking regulation of pension and allowances that the parliamentarians are entitled. The apex court has also issued notice to the Secretary General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in this regard and sought reply in four weeks. A bench comprising of Justices J. Chelameswar? and S. Abdul Nazeer was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Uttar Pradesh based non-profit Lok Prahari. "We understand the crux and this needs to be looked into," the court observed. The petitioner in his arguments has said there are no guidelines for allowances received by the members of Parliament. "If a person is elected at the age of 25-26, the individual is eligible for a lifetime of pension after a single term," said advocate Kamini Jaiswal, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner. (ANI)
