Punjab: Two killed in scrap shop explosion in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur (Punjab) [India] Apr 15 (ANI): At least two people were killed and four others were injured, including a 12-year-old, in an explosion at a scrap dealer's shop in Punjab's Gurdaspur. The injured were rushed to Amritsar for further medical treatment. "We received the information that there was a blast in a shop and we immediately reached the spot. We have sent the injured to the Civil Hospital for further treatment," said Gurdaspur SSP Bhupinderjit Singh. He added that an investigation team has been called from Mohali so the reasons behind the blast could be ascertained. Punjab Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary reached the spot to console the victims. She said that an investigative team has been ordered to look into the matter, adding that certain measures will be taken into consideration to curb such incidents in the future. "The families of the victims will be given compensation to help them with the loss," she added. (ANI)
