New Delhi [India], Nov 14 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat on Monday took potshots at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for calling up her party's general secretary Sitaram Yechury to join hands against the government's demonetisation move and said that this was a desperate move on part of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief as her government is involved in several scams including the Saradha chit-fund case. "The TMC is taking all these measures against the demonetisation endeavour because Bengal is neck deep in corruption courtesy scams like the Saradha," Karat told ANI. The CPI (M) politburo member also used the occasion to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his emotional appeal made to the nation and said that the former's tears is not a matter of concern but it is the sorrows of the common man which is perturbing. "Who should we look at Prime Minister's Modi's tears or the tears of the common man? We have demanded that the old notes should be allowed to work till December end. I don't understand this drama of the Prime Minister," she said. The TMC supremo created a buzz earlier on Sunday by calling up Yechury to join hands against the BJP-led NDA regime's demonetisation move. On November 8, Prime Minister Modi announced demonetisation of currency notes in a major assault on black money, fake currency and corruption. (ANI)
