Wayanad (Kerala) [India], Apr 4 (ANI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi held a roadshow on Thursday in Wayanad after filing his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections.
The roadshow, which started from Kalpetta helipad and ended at SKMJ Higher Secondary School, received a huge response from the party workers.
Accompanied by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Oommen Chandy, also a general secretary, and other Congress leaders, Rahul’s roadshow was seemingly a big hit.
This is Rahul’s first show of strength in Kerala after announcing that he will fight the Lok Sabha election from Wayanad constituency, apart from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress had won 8 out of a total 20 Lok Sabha seats at stake in Kerala in the last elections.
This time, the Congress is contesting 16 seats, while four seats have been left for its allies – two for Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and one each for Kerala Congress (Mani) and Socialist Party (RSP).
The polling in Kerala will be held on April 23, third phase of seven-phase polls beginning April 11. The results will be out on May 23. (ANI)
