Shah’s speech shows real hand behind Sabarimala violence: CPI(M)

New Delhi [India], Oct 28 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday claimed that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah's speech challenging the Supreme Court order on the entry of women in the Sabarimala Temple exposed the reasons behind the violent protests.
“BJP President Amit Shah has challenged the Supreme Court order on the entry of women to the Sabarimala Temple and incited his party men to defy the verdict, in his speech in Kerala. In doing so, he has exposed the real hand behind the violent protests against women’s entry into Sabarimala,” the CPI (M) Politburo said in a statement.
The party further said in its statement that such incitement has led to the “highly condemnable” arson attack on the ashram of Swamy Sandeepananda Giri.
Indicating that Shah’s speech reflected the contempt the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP have for the Constitution and the apex court, the politburo added: “That the ruling party President's blatant ridiculing of the Supreme Court judgement is in keeping with the RSS-BJP’s contempt for the Constitution and the Supreme Court.”
The statement said, “The threat of toppling the Kerala state government if it continues to uphold the SC judgement is another display of the anti-democratic, authoritarian attitude typical of Amit Shah.”
The CPI (M) also asserted that the people of the state will reject “the regressive and disruptive politics” of the BJP and RSS.
“The CPI(M) will expose throughout the country the anti-women stand of the BJP and its upholding of the patriarchal upper caste order. The Polit Bureau appreciates the steps being taken by the LDF government to stop violence and hooliganism by those claiming to oppose the Supreme Court judgement,” the statement read.
Speaking at a public rally on Saturday, Shah sharply criticised the Supreme Court verdict allowing entry of women of all ages inside the Sabarimala shrine and advised the state governments and courts to pronounce orders that can be followed.
The BJP president also gave a stern warning to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to stop suppression of Lord Ayyappa devotees in the name of the top court verdict. (ANI)
