SP MPs rock Rajya Sabha to adjournment after Akhilesh stopped at Lucknow airport

New Delhi [India], Feb 12 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Tuesday after SP members' strong protest over the denial of permission to former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to board the aircraft at Lucknow airport.      
Following the ruckus, the Upper House was adjourned for a half day by Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu after less than an hour of regular functioning.
It all started when the matters were being raised by members with the permission of the Chair, the Samajwadi Party MPs sought the permission to raise the issue of their party chief being stopped at Lucknow airport.
The proceedings of the House will resume at 2 pm.
Earlier in the day after being stopped from boarding the aircraft, Akhilesh Yadav had said, “The government is so afraid of me going to attend a student leader's swearing-in ceremony that I was stopped at Lucknow Airport." (ANI)
