The new trauma Centre working wonders in Kargil

Kargil (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Oct. 24 (ANI): The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Scheme is working wonders in the border district of Kargil in terms of providing upgraded medical facilities. The establishment of a new trauma centre now allows local residents access to better medical facilities and ensures that patients recovers faster as compared to earlier. "Our trauma staff is always ready and alert. We don't face problems in that. We have number of ambulances which can be availed from anywhere. We have provided our number to everywhere; we are even advertising our number on radio. So, it becomes easy for people to reach us," said Dr. Shabir Hussain Chief Medical Officer, Kargil. The new trauma hospital at Kargil has led to a decrease in death rates. Earlier, patients were shifted to Leh in Ladakh or to Srinagar, as there was no trauma hospital in Kargil district "Before this trauma centre people were having trouble. This new trauma centre has helped people a lot. The trauma centre has all the facilities like OTP, ambulance. The area of Kargil is very hilly and because of that, several accidents take place every day," said Ghulam Muhammad, a local resident. The establishment of this emergency hospital has ensured that accident cases are treated promptly and that people of adjoining areas also get benefits. (ANI)
