When greed exceeds need; nature lets loose its fury: Prez Mukherjee

New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): Outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday underlined the significance of environment and said when greed exceeds need; nature lets loose its fury. Addressing the nation on the eve of demitting office as the 13th President of India, President Mukherjee said that its protection of environment is essential for the survival of mankind. "Protection of the environment is essential for our survival. Nature has been kind to us in its bounty. But, when greed exceeds need, nature lets loose its fury," the outgoing President said. He further said that some parts of India are affected by devastating floods while others are reeling under severe drought. Highlighting that climate change has put farming sector under tremendous stress, President Mukherjee said the scientists and technologists have to work with millions of farmers and workers improve and restore the ecological balance. President-elect Ram Nath Kovind will take oath as the 14th President of India on Tuesday (July 25). (ANI)
