London (UK), Jan 28 (ANI): West Indies made an electric start to their Test series against England when they thumped the visitors by 381 runs. The home team coach Richard Pybus is full of praise for the players but urged them to keep their feet on the ground as there are still two matches left in the series and the English side could not be taken lightly.
Pybus said that they have ticked off the first but England is likely to come back stronger in the second Test.
"One swallow does not make a summer. Is it my job to keep their feet on the floor? Absolutely. We have our goals for the series and we have ticked off the first Test. But England will be hurting. They are a quality side and I have huge respect for them. They will come back at us in Antigua. Our game has to be at the highest level for them,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Pybus, as saying.
All-rounder Roston Chase and skipper Jason Holder gave memorable performances to strengthen West Indies’ grip on the match but the coach believes that it was the overall bowling performance that put the English side under pressure.
"Chase was wonderful. Roston bowled exceptionally well. His control was good. He set good fields and exerted a huge amount of pressure throughout the game with his consistency,” Pybus said.
“But I think the pressure created by the bowing unit was great, which is what happens when you have four good quick bowlers. As a unit, they complemented each other. Roston bowled well but when you have pressure at both ends it is pretty tough for the batters,” he added.
West Indies and England are slated to play their second Test from January 31 to February 5 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. (ANI)
