London [U.K], May 9 (ANI): Star striker Diego Costa struck his 20th league goal of the season as Chelsea moved an inch closer to the Premier League title following a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough at the Stamford Bridge here on Tuesday. Chelsea had already created a succession of chances before Costa put the Antonio Conte-led side ahead by finishing off a fine pass from man of the match Cesc Fabregas, goal.com reported. The Chelsea striker was also seen waving to the fans after his goal, leaving them to speculate over his future. Just 10 minutes later, Marcos Alonso doubled his side's lead when he steered home his sixth league goal of the season following a deflection from Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Guzan's thigh. Fabregas then provided his 10th assist of the campaign for a record sixth different season as Nemanja Matic scored the third goal for Chelsea in the 65th minute of the match. Chelsea, who recorded their 300th Premier League home win, will be crowned champions if they are able to win at West Brom on May 13. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough would be dropped back to the Championship after their single season's stay in the top flight.(ANI)
