Johannesburg [South Africa], Dec. 20 (ANI): Former England international Gareth Barry on Monday went past Frank Lampard's 609 Premier League appearances tally during Everton's 0-1 loss against Liverpool at the Goodison Park. Barry, capped 53 times, has 610 Premier League games under his belt, and now is only 22 shy of Welsh legend Ryan Giggs' mark. The 35-year-old has played for Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton while Lampard's 609 Premier League appearances were for West Ham United, Chelsea and City, reports Sport24. Barry started his career with Aston Villa in Premier League and played 365 matches for them. He then made 132 appearances for Manchester City, including in their title-winning 2011-2012 season. This season, Barry could crack 100 games for Everton after taking that mark to 81 in yesterday's game. Barry recently extended his contract with Everton till 2018. Everton will next lock horns with Leicester City on December 26. (ANI)
