Tokyo [Japan], July 26 (ANI): India's ace shooters Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Mairaj Ahmad Khan failed to qualify for the medal round after finishing 18th and 25th respectively in the men's skeet qualification here at the Asaka Shooting Range on Monday.
In the qualification round spread across two days, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa pulled the trigger 125 times across five series to shoot 120 targets while Mairaj Ahmad Khan executed 117 shots from the different shooting stations which were arranged in a semi-circle.
The top six will qualify for the finals, where they will shoot 60 targets.

On the second day of the qualification, Bajwa had the worst possible start compared to day one as he missed two targets in round 4, which instantly landed him out of the top-15 in the field. Notably, on the opening day, Angad missed just two targets out of 75 (three rounds) and had a top-six finals spot well insight. He had scored 25, 24, 24 in the first three series.
Compatriot Mairaj Ahmad Khan never recovered from the horror show in round 3 of opening day where he missed the three targets after targeting a perfect 25, and 24 in the first two series as he shot 23 in round 4.
Going into the final round, all hopes of the Indian duo of qualifying for the medal event were well dusted as top-6 continued to make minimum mistakes. Angad scored 24 and Mairaj shot 23 in the last round.
Men's Skeet was the only event with Indian interest in shooting in Tokyo Olympics on Monday. The final of this event is scheduled for 12.20 pm IST.
Earlier on Sunday, Indian shooters Deepak Kumar and Divyansh Singh Panwar alongside Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh Deswal also failed to qualify for their respective medal rounds in the Men's 10m Air Rifle and Women's 10m Air pistol. (ANI)
