Here are some apps to make conversation easy in local languages

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 (ANI): Consumption of content in local languages on digital platforms is on a rise.

Indian language users are not just accessing chat apps, and digital entertainment, but they are also opting for digital news consumption and payments.

According to a report by Google - KPMG, an estimated 536 million Indians are expected to use regional languages while online by 2021, complemented by increasing affordability of devices and data charges and availability of more local content.

With tech players focusing more and more to build something appropriate for the masses, here is a list of apps which are available in leading Indian languages.


Way2Online is a short news app that caters to seekers of news and information in English and eight regional Indian languages which include, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, and Marathi. It has over 13 million downloads and records over 2 billion screen views engagement every month.

Snap Tube

Snap Tube is a tool designed to download videos in a simple, fast, and convenient way from YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It is a user friendly platform through which one can download videos from any major website. Recently, Snap Tube also came up with a new feature where the user can use the app in his/her mother tongue.


Tez is a mobile payments service by Google, targeted at users from India. It operates atop the Unified Payments Interface, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India. It can be used where UPI payments are accepted and works on majority of the smartphones.


Ixigo is a train information app which registers 20 million train searches every month. A leading train information app, Ixigo has recently launched a multilingual feature for 7 Indian languages - English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, and Kannada.


A speech therapy app, Avaz was launched in 2012, and has around 40,000 monthly active users globally. The app provides speech therapy guidance for autistic children, and is available in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi.


MobiKwik is a leading mobile wallet company which released five more regional languages version of its application. With this move, the company aims to break the language barriers and connect with millions of mobile users from tier-II and tier-III cities by enabling them to transact digitally. (ANI)
