California [USA], Mar 5 (ANI): In a reverse instance of lower wages, Google reportedly paid its male employees lesser than the women employees for the same role in the last year.
In its annual pay equity analysis, Google revealed that it paid men less in 2018 compared to women for Level 4 Software Engineer role. In this job code, men were flagged for adjustments as they received less discretionary funds than women.
Google included 91 per cent of Googlers in its analysis for the last year, the highest percentage to date. The company provided USD 9.7 million in adjustments to a total of 10,677 Googlers.
The company listed a number of reasons, including the large job code of Level 4 and new hire analysis to look for discrepancies in offers to new employees that accounted for 49 percent of total adjustments, for paying more in adjustments in 2018 compared to the previous year. (ANI)
