Washington [USA], Mar 22 (ANI): 50 years ago, NASA’s Apollo 11 lunar mission made a successful attempt at landing on the surface of the moon.
History was made when astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on July 20, 1969. And now, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has introduced a special stamp to commemorate the special occasion, Cnet reported.
The USPS revealed two stamp designs celebrating the milestone. The stamps are designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá and both include the inscription "1969 First Moon Landing".
One stamp features a photograph of Apollo 11 astronaut Aldrin in his spacesuit on the surface of the moon, taken by fellow astronaut Armstrong.
The second stamp shows the landing site of the lunar module in the Sea of Tranquility, taken in 2010 by Alabama-based amateur astronomer Gregory Revera.
The release date and details for the first day of issue ceremony are yet to be announced. (ANI)
