B'desh: 35 cops hurt in road crash

Kushtia [Bangladesh], Jan 7 (ANI): At least, 35 policemen were injured after a bus carrying them hit a tree on the roadside in the city's Central Bus Terminal area on Sunday.

A police source said: "A bus carrying 40 policemen plunged into the ditch, as the driver lost control over the steering wheel and hit a roadside tree at around 7:30 pm while giving side to a truck", the Dhaka Tribune reported.

The firefighters of the Kushtia fire service rushed to the spot immediately and rescued the injured policemen.

"Among the injured, the condition of five policemen was critical", said Taposh Kumar Sarker, a resident medical officer of Kushtia General Hospital.

Some sources added that the policemen were returning to their homes after providing security protocol to Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid, during his visit to Shilaidaha Kuthibari earlier, which was once the mansion of Dwarkanath Tagore. (ANI)
